Central New Mexico Electric Cooperative Broadband Division
Effective Date: August 7, 2025

This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") outlines acceptable use of broadband services provided by Central New Mexico Electric Cooperative ("CNMEC"). By using CNMEC broadband services ("Service"), Members agree to abide by this Policy and ensure that all persons who access the Service through their account comply with it.

Purpose

The purpose of this Policy is to:

  • Promote responsible and lawful use of CNMEC broadband services,
  • Protect the security and reliability of the network,
  • Preserve the ability of all Members to use and enjoy the Service.

Prohibited Uses

Members may not use the Service to:

  • Violate any law, regulation, or the rights of others, including intellectual property, privacy, or contractual rights.
  • Transmit or distribute harmful content, such as viruses, malware, or any program designed to disrupt or damage computers or networks.
  • Access, transmit, or distribute illegal or offensive content, including child pornography, hate speech, or content that incites violence or criminal activity.
  • Engage in spamming or phishing, including sending unsolicited bulk or commercial email.
  • Engage in network abuse, including excessive bandwidth consumption that interferes with CNMEC’s ability to provide Service to others.
  • Resell or redistribute the Service to others without express written permission from CNMEC.
  • Use the Service for unauthorized commercial purposes, including hosting public servers or operating as an internet service provider.

Security and Network Integrity

Members are responsible for the security of their own devices, including taking precautions to protect their systems from viruses, spyware, and other threats. Members must not:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any network or account,
  • Interfere with or disrupt other users or network services,
  • Use the Service in any manner that may compromise the security of CNMEC's network or infrastructure.

Monitoring and Enforcement

CNMEC reserves the right to monitor usage of the Service as necessary to:

  • Ensure compliance with this Policy,
  • Protect the integrity of its network,
  • Cooperate with legal investigations.

Violations may result in actions including, but not limited to:

  • Warning the user,
  • Suspending or terminating Service,
  • Legal action where applicable.

Reporting Violations

Suspected violations of this Policy should be reported to Central New Mexico Electric Cooperative at 505-832-4483.

Amendments

CNMEC may update this Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Service after updates are posted will constitute acceptance of the revised terms. The most current version of the Policy will be available at:
